Different testing and sampling methods

PCR Test

PCR testing is the gold standard test in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The reliability of the results is especially high.

Rapid antigen test

The advantage of rapid antigen tests is the rapid diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 infection. The test only takes about 15 minutes. However, this test is the least reliable.

Serology test

Serological tests can identify a past infection with the virus.

The gold standard sampling procedure is to collect secretions from the nasopharynx. This procedure should be performed by a healthcare professional.

Saliva sampling is more convenient and easier for patients to follow than other methods.
